Today’s leaders must be prepared to anticipate, analyse, and address complex challenges involving multiple stakeholders as effi ciently and effectively as possible. They need a special set of skills and capacities that will enable them to put effective leadership into practice. Navigating through the tensions and ambiguities that characterize today’s workplace demands an adaptive mindset and solid leadership decision making skills. The goal of this cutting-edge Leadership Programme is to empower senior level female leaders in their pursuit of dynamic and thoughtful leadership, career advancement and selffulfilment. Critical skills in self-leadership will be developed in confronting difficulties and taking decisions across a wide range of contexts and circumstances.
The programme will be conducted in English. The approach is grounded in theory (Robert Kegan, Ronald Heifetz and Kurt Fischer, Harvard University) but thoroughly experiential and applicable across a wide range of cultural contexts. The course takes place in a generative learning space. The focus is on two fundamental aspects of effective leadership. Firstly, participants are taught how to identify and integrate their individual hidden patterns and reactive tendencies underlying their unconscious and automatic biases and assumptions. These limitations tend to hamper the success and positive impact of their goals and achievements. Secondly, from this vantage point, adaptive skills in leadership decision-making are built and strengthened. This allows participants to follow their own tailored learning and development trajectory and to handle complexity, ambiguity and real life decision making with greater ease and mastery. Participants learn to manage work situations they previously felt trapped in. Challenges, such as gender or cultural biases are explored from the perspective of personal power and responsibility.
This is a journey in transformative leadership with the following features:
- An online component (prior to the onsite component): comprising a cutting-edge online assessment focusing on leadership decision making skills (Lectica’s Leadership Decision Making Assessment) and personalized debrief with the trainers (including the development of an individualized learning goals);
- A five-day intensive on-site component focussing on:
- Overcoming limitations inherent in the job linked to competence, perception, gender, or culture;
- Developing skills and capacities that enable effective leadership in decision- making;
- Strengthening the ability to take (identify and consider), seek, and coordinate various perspectives, and to practise contextual thinking and complexity management; and
- Turning reactive tendencies into creative ones;
- A personalized learning and development roadmap and two individual online coaching sessions after the on-site course;
- A peer network and exclusive access to a range of leadership development resources.
The methods used are grounded in theory and are gender-neutral.
Lectica: The LDMA
The programme works with the Lectica Decision Making Assessment (LDMA), a leading measurement instrument that accurately assesses decision-making skills along six dimensions: (1) cognitive complexity, (2) perspective taking, seeking, and coordination, (3) collaborative capacity, (4) contextual thinking, (5) decision-making process, and (6) coherence. The online assessment will be tailored to the organisational setting and responsibilities of each participant, who will explain their approach to a common dilemma in the workplace involving conflicting interests. The end result is a customized report that, combined with refl ections and a debriefing, is expected to lead to individualized learning practices to bridge the complexity gap.

Anne Caspari and Johann Entz-von Zerssen have each more than 15 years of experience working with personal transformation, coaching and Organizational Development worldwide. Anne works with innovative adult development methods. She has taught at several universities, including Rome University “La Sapienza” and the European School of Economics. Johann, with 15 years of corporate leadership experience, works as faculty and leadership trainer for the Coaches Training Institute (CTI) and the University of Munich, for individuals, groups and numerous organizations at all levels of leadership. They joined forces in 2014 to bring personal leadership training to the next level. Both are accredited in a variety of leadership and coaching methods, including CTI Coaches Training Institute, Hogan Assessments, Process Communication Model (Kahler), The Leadership Circle 360˚, Organisation and Relationship Systems Coaching Certified (ORSC), and Lectica.
Blanka Bellak is Director of the Austrian Study Centre for Peace and Conflict Resolution (ASPR), a UNESCO award-winning training and research institute on non-violent resolution of conflicts. With more than 15 years of management experience in international development and in the UN System, Blanka is passionate about supporting individuals and organizations in their efforts to develop their leadership skills.
